Dangerous Road Conditions

There are three states in the US that let immigrants who are undocumented, or “illegal”, to get driver’s licenses. However, most other states are trying to get immigrants off the roads. Especially in this down economy, the problems with unlicensed and uninsured drivers have received an even brighter spotlight as a place where we lose a ton of money every year. National Public Radio just did a series on this problem, and they interviewed a member of the Insurance Information Institute, the Federation for American Immigration Reform, and law professors from USC. If you have ever been in an accident with someone who was undocumented or uninsured, you know how important it is to stop these incidents from occurring. They are very expensive, even if the person you were in the accident with doesn’t drive off right away and stays to let you know they can’t cover the costs.
