My daughter purchased her first car a month ago, and we contacted several auto insurance companies to obtain insurance quotes.  We were amazed at the high amount that was quoted for comprehensive and uninsured motorist coverage. The representatives we spoke to indicated anyone under the age of twenty five is considered high risk.  Therefore, they assess a higher rate to compensate for the risk they are taking.  I do understand what they are saying because younger drivers tend to cause more accident. The problem is my daughter cannot afford the premiums so I guess we will have to place the car on our policy.
